Failing to Plan is Planning to Fail: The Importance of having Pet Insurance

In this edition of #AskTheSquad we will be talking about the high cost of veterinary care and the Important Role of Pet Insurance

As an economist, I can state with certainty that people, all people, are very bad at assessing risk. It’s just human nature. People always assume the risk of any adverse situation is higher for others than for themselves. And as a veterinary nurse and pet owner, I can also say with absolute certainty that at some point over the life of your pet, you will be faced with a whopping and unexpected vet bill.

Unfortunately, so many pet owners acquire pets without fully understanding the cost of having a pet. What surprises so many people is that veterinary healthcare, just like human healthcare, is expensive. But unlike human healthcare, there is no safety net, no government assistance programs, no payment plans, or guarantee of minimal care. As a pet owner, you are 100% responsible for the cost of care. And what’s more, all fees are due at the time of service.

TYou can do a few things to mitigate the expense of pet healthcare, and one of the best ways is to purchase pet insurance. Check out the video below as Kendra Williams, RVT explains the role of pet insurance and how it can lift much of the burden of veterinary care.
